Barbara McLucas, DVM

Dr. Barbara McLucas is originally from the East Coast. She was born & raised in Glen Burnie, Maryland, about 30 minutes south of Baltimore City. She knew from an early age she wanted to be a veterinarian and spent many hours with her "zoo" of personal animals (dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, horses, fish).

After nearly four years in Hawaii she moved to Texas and attended Southwest Texas State University for her undergraduate education. She then received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University in 2001. She came to VCA Alameda East for internship training in 2001 and remained as a staff doctor upon completion of her internship.

Dr. McLucas has a professional interest in behavior medicine and has additional training in this field. She is in process of working to get a board certification in this specialty field. She currently sees patients for general practice appointments as well as consultations for behavior problems.

Personally, Dr. McLucas enjoys horseback riding, cooking, and reading in her spare time. She has three four-legged children including a cat named Mitty and two dogs, a Teacup Chihuahua named Milly and a Black Lab named Baylor.
