Colleen Nemmers, DVM

Dr. Nemmers was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Since she was young, she knew she wanted to be a veterinarian. She completed a B.S. in Biology at LaSalle University. There she was a Track & Field athlete on a sports scholarship. She was a heptathlete and a pole vaulter. Her other passion was volunteering at the Pennsylvania S.P.C.A. At the shelter, she worked with a veterinarian who did some of his veterinary work at Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine and suggested she apply there. Dr. Nemmers attended ISU-CVM and graduated May of 2009. She learned to love the Midwest, even though she was a big city girl. She continued her Track & Field career, competing in the pole vault unattached at college track meets in Iowa. During veterinary school, she gained a strong interest in small animal soft tissue surgery as well as internal medicine.

Outside of work, Dr. Nemmers loves spending time with her husband and classmate Ben, who graduated from ISU-CVM Class of 2009 also. They were recently married prior to their move to Colorado. They are a very active couple and cannot wait to enjoy the great outdoors of Colorado. They have 2 beautiful mixed-breed dogs, Lucky and Dakota. Dr. Nemmers lives to run, lift, bike, ski, play softball, basically anything active. Her two dogs are her running and hiking partners.
