Physical Therapy: The Clare and Eugene Thaw Biomechanics Laboratory
The Clare and Eugene Thaw Biomechanics Laboratory
“Lola" walks across a force plate built into the floor that captures weight-bearing capacity in each leg.
The first of its kind in private practice, the Clare and Eugene Thaw Biomechanics Laboratory uses force plates (kinetics) and sophisticated digital motion analysis (kinematics) for superlative analysis of the gait and weight-bearing properties of your canine companion. The Lab helps vets to diagnose sources of lameness, select an appropriate course of care, and to test efficacy of treatments provided.

| "Dorie" sports reflective balls that multiple cameras around the room will photograph to reproduce her gait in a computer image. |
The outcome from each test creates sophisticated computer reports that help determine degree of lameness—a far cry from the days of "eyeballing" a diagnosis in complex lameness cases. |
