About Hydrotherapy

“Spot” enjoys a therapeutic swim with Director Adamson. This, the smaller of our two pools, is great for seniors and more timid swimmers.

Hydrotherapy can be an ideal form of active exercise. The buoyancy effect offsets the force of gravity allowing patients to move their limbs while experiencing less stress on joints. The resistance provided by the water helps to improve the patient's strength while increasing circulation, flexibility and range of motion.

The Ferno K-9 Underwater Treadmill System is designed specifically for canine rehabilitation. The pool allows dogs to start the rehabilitation process earlier than normal since they are in a modified weight-bearing environment.

The underwater treadmill also helps to reeducate muscles, improve balance and coordination, and boost morale.

Treatment in the underwater treadmills is fun for dogs! Therapy speeds recovery from surgery and eases arthritis pain.
Even cats, known for their dislike of water, seem to enjoy and benefit from our rehabilitation therapies. Oliver, an international champion show dog, conditions for the ring by swimming against the jets of the large in-ground pool. Even the average companion dog can benefit from this type of conditioning.
